ANALYSIS: How Governor-Elect Jeff Landry Leveraged Social Media To Win
Updated: Aug 13, 2024
Jeff Landry recently won the Louisiana governor’s race and flipped Louisiana RED. I looked at his social media campaign pages, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to analyze his messaging strategy. In my analysis, I break down his logo, campaign slogan, and a couple of social media posts to highlight his winning strategy!
Campaign Logo
Jeff Landry’s campaign logo includes the Louisiana state colors; blue, gold, and white, which I believe is clever as some Republican candidates use the traditional Republican color red on their logos. Using the state colors unifies voters in my opinion. He used social media to promote this cleverly designed logo.
Campaign Slogan
“Give Louisiana A Government As Good As Its People”
I like this slogan that was posted multiple times on his social media, the more often a slogan is promoted on social media, the easier it is to recall. “….As Good As Its People” highlights that he has Louisianan’s best interest in mind when it comes to government.
Spotlighting Family Business
Jeff Landry and his campaign team stopped by locally owned restaurants, took pictures with the owners, and thanked them for keeping them fed during the campaign trail. When candidates highlight locally owned restaurants, it helps promote their business.
Meet and Greets
On the final week of the campaign trail, Jeff Landry’s team took no days off meeting voters. Team Landry planned meet and greets called “Diner Dash”, created a logo, which resembles a diner logo.
Get Out The Vote Message
Did you notice that Jeff Landry used the Louisiana state colors in this GOTV graphic? He also used “Geaux” Cajun spelling. As you may know Cajuns are descendants of French Canadians who settled in the bayou lands of southern Louisiana. A nice touch to acknowledge the Cajun community in Louisiana.
Governor-Elect Jeff Landry’s social media team developed creative content to engage voters with messaging, colors, pictures of locally owned places in Louisiana. I hope you find this analysis helpful if you are responsible for managing a campaign page as the 2024 election season is underway! Exciting times and best of luck for Louisiana for a smooth transition to common sense conservative government.
Disclaimer: I do not know anyone on Team Landry, nor have I done any consulting for any Louisiana GOP campaign (yet).
