Don't Forget to Include The Holidays on Social Media

Updated: Nov 21, 2024

You recently created a political social media to share campaign updates and grassroots efforts to engage Republican voters. In addition to political posts, it is important to include holidays in your content calendar.

Post federal holidays on social media to engage voters.
Don't Forget to Include The Holidays

Why?

Elected officials, candidates, and political organizations post holiday graphics on their social media pages to connect with their supporters. Their followers like, comment, and share those graphics because they appreciate major holidays being acknowledged. Holiday posts help increase awareness of political campaigns and organizations.

Stony City Digital notes that holiday social media posts that are shareable can increase engagement and brand awareness.

How?

Three ways to engage your followers with holiday content on social media.

1. You can create holiday graphics. I recommend Canva online graphic design tool where you can include your campaign logo or your organization’s logo.

2. If you choose not to create a holiday graphic, you can share a holiday graphic from another social media page or find a free holiday graphic online.

3. Another way to engage followers with the holidays is event participation such as cookouts, food drives, and parades. Be sure and take pictures of your events. People love to see pictures of events on social media because it shows them that you are active. It may entice them to join your campaign or organization!

Social Stamina notes that your holiday posts should have a clear focus that resonates with your followers so you need to make sure you create your content to represent your audience and don’t overdo it.

When?

My recommendation is to post on federal holidays. If you have Meta Business Suite, you can create and schedule holiday posts in advance. Plan the holiday posts for early morning, either 6:30AM or 7:00AM.

Holiday graphics and/or sharing pictures of holiday events on social media will increase awareness of your campaign and/or your GOP organization with likes, comments, shares, and maybe even new followers!
