Do's and Don'ts For Using Facebook Followers Tag

 

It is important to stay up to date with the latest social media features to engage your followers and to increase awareness of your campaign or your organization.  My new blog will only focus on one new feature on one social platform to keep it simple.  
 
Earlier, this year, Facebook launched a new feature where page admins can tag all followers to a caption or a comment section on their post.  The advantage of the followers feature is it can help increase visibility of your post(s) if you use this strategically.  Let’s break down the do’s and don’ts of this feature.  
 
1.     Use the followers tag to announce a major event.  If you are hosting a large event, such as a fundraiser, you do not want your followers to miss your post, especially if you have a well-known political figure as your keynote speaker.  
 
2.     Use the followers tag feature on important event updates.  For example, if the event venue has changed.  Update your event details as soon as possible on your post and tag your followers.  They will appreciate the heads up from their Facebook notification.
 
3.     Do not use the followers tag on every single post because it will become spammy, people will get annoyed, and likely unfollow your page.  
 
4.     Do not use your followers tag on Instagram or X (Twitter) yet.  At this time, based on my research, Instagram and X do not have a feature where you can tag all your followers.  
 
The Bottom Line
 
If you plan to use the followers tag, make sure you it is relevant for your followers.  Tag your followers occasionally, but do not go overboard with this feature.
