As some of you know, College Republicans is where my political career began serving as Communications Director for Abilene Christian University College Republicans where my main responsibility was leading the social media campaigns to increase awareness. I offer complimentary advice for College Republicans, which sets me apart from other political consulting firms.
Fall semester is quickly approaching and now is the time to plan for your College Republicans' activities to build awareness of your organization. There are two topics to cover. The first is organizing meetings.
I highly recommend your College Republican officers; President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications Director all meet up to plan meetings for fall semester.
I suggest two meetings a month. Secure a classroom as a regular meeting space for continuity. Once your team has set dates, design invitations to promote your events on social media and/or email updates. It is easier to promote one meeting at a time; to start, promote your first meeting of the semester.
The second topic I am covering in this blog is to promote your College Republicans chapter by participating at student fairs.
Most colleges and universities have student fairs at the beginning of each semester for all student organizations to invite students to get involved in extra-curricular activities. This is a great opportunity to promote your College Republicans chapter. (Especially since this is Election Year!)
1. Find out the date, time, and location (typically at a student union center)
2. Secure a space for your College Republicans chapter
3. Gather promotional materials (signage, sign up QR code, stickers, lanyards, etc.) to display on a fold up table
4. Assign who will be present at your table
5. Abide by student fair guidelines
6. Be sure to answer questions and tell students how they can get involved
Plan and Promote: Organize your meetings and promote your College Republicans organization to encourage and increase student participation. College Republicans was the steppingstone to my professional career in politics. For me, it was an introduction to grassroots politics and I hope to see more college students getting involved in Republican politics.
