Texas Municipal Elections are now over. Election results have been reported. You made it thru your campaign launch parties, fundraising, meet & greets, phone calls, block walking, candidate forums, and poll greeting. No doubt all of this is exhausting. Therefore, you should be proud of yourself for stepping up to serve regardless of if you won or not.
Congratulations to municipal candidates who won. It is now time to prepare for the transition to your new job. Keep your supporters updated on your upcoming municipal government work via communication platforms. If you were re-elected, keep up the great work serving your constituents!
If you fell short on your election, do not be discouraged. You should rest and reflect on your campaign. I encourage you to run again. I know determined elected officials from previous election cycles who lost in the first round and won in their election in the second round. An advantage of running again is you will have name recognition. Keep your social media active to continue engaging with your supporters. If you decide to run for the same office, you will be able to save money on campaign logos. However, you will need to update your campaign literature with new messaging and new election dates.
“Never let the things you can’t do stop you from doing what you can.”
-President Ronald Reagan
The next municipal election date may be a long way off, but you never know if an incumbent will resign unprecedently and a special election will take place. Be prepared if you decide to run again!
Some of you are now facing a runoff on Saturday, June 10th, which means you have a few extra weeks of campaigning to increase voter turnout. Direct your supporters to polling locations. Good luck! You can do it!
Don’t forget to thank your supporters for their vote. Thank your donors and volunteers who helped fund and organize your campaign.
