Why Posting Pictures of Political Events on Social Media Matters

Updated: Nov 21, 2024

Taking and uploading pictures of your political events on social media proves that your political campaign or your political organization is active and engaging with your followers.

Post images simultaneously on all social media platforms.
Why Posting Pictures of Political Events Matter
Your campaign or your organization should add an upcoming event on your platforms, social media, newsletter update, and/or your website. People are excited about your event because it gives them something to look forward too, especially if your event is a social. Some people may be attending your event as a supporter of your campaign or as a member of your organization.

Other people may be attending your upcoming event for the first time. First timers may be interested in your event because he or she has glanced at pictures of your previous events on social media. They may think “Hey, this is a nice-looking group of people at this social, I may want to get involved” or “This candidate looks like he cares about what matters most to voters, I want to attend their next event!”. Another thought is a prospective attendee may recognize someone they know attending your campaign or your organization’s event(s) while scrolling thru your social media pictures. I can’t speak for everyone but for me, I am more likely to attend an event for the first time if I know someone involved in a campaign or organization.

If you oversee social media for a political candidate or a political organization, it is important to take pictures of ALL your upcoming events and POST the pictures on social media. Do not be neglectful and forget to post pictures from some events.

Photo checklist
1. Action shots of attendees mingling
2. Pictures of a guest speaker(s) talking to the attendees
3. A group picture of a guest speaker(s) and the attendees
4. Ask if you need help taking pictures of your events.

A consistent social media manager will take the above listed pictures and post the pictures within 24 hours after the event.

An inconsistent social media manager neglects to post event pictures. Sometimes the social media manager will post pictures from one month’s social but forget to post pictures of another month’s social. Attendees could be let down if the social media manager does not post pictures were posted of your event, especially if he or she enjoyed your event. For instance, they will not have a group picture to reminisce.

Posting pictures of your event on social media will spread awareness of your campaign or your organization’s activities. Attendees who follow your social media will see your pictures and if they enjoyed your event, he or she could repost pictures of your event. If you had a guest speaker, you can also tag he or she in your pictures if they have a social media page. Then they could share your post as well to help spread awareness of your campaign or your organization. The more pictures you post, the better chance more people will want to get involved to donate or volunteer for your campaign or for your organization.
